Why is the Town creating a Winter Town Strategy?
Winter is a defining part of life in Canmore and affects how we live, work, move around, and connect with one another. The strategy will help the Town better understand community priorities and identify opportunities to improve the winter experience for residents, businesses, workers, and visitors.

Have decisions already been made?
No. The Town is seeking community input to better understand winter experiences, challenges, and opportunities. Feedback collected throughout the engagement process will help inform the development of the strategy and its recommendations.
Will all ideas and suggestions be included in the strategy?
Not necessarily. We will review all feedback received and look for common themes, opportunities, and priorities. Recommendations will also consider feasibility, community benefit, best practices, alignment with existing plans, available resources, and Council priorities.
Will the strategy result in immediate changes?
The strategy is intended to serve as a long-term roadmap. While it may identify opportunities that could be implemented in the near term, many recommendations may require future planning, funding, Council direction, and budget approval before they can move forward.
How will recommendations be implemented?
The strategy itself does not approve projects or spending. If Council approves the strategy, recommendations may be considered through future business planning, budgeting processes, capital planning, and Council decision-making.
