Consultation has concluded
The Lions Park playground has reached the end of its lifespan and will be replaced in 2023.
The existing playground will be removed and replaced with a brand-new wheelchair accessible and inclusive playground. The playground will be moved to a new location, to accommodate the expansion of the tennis courts, along the north side of the soccer field.
Inclusive Playground
An inclusive play space is universally designed where children of all abilities can play with a rich range of physical, sensory, and social experiences. It is a place that goes beyond minimum accessibility to create play experiences that meet a variety of needs and interests. The space allows all children and adults of all abilities to interact with each other and do what everyone wants to do: PLAY!
As Canmore's first fully inclusive play space, we switched our normal playground selection process. Instead of allowing the community as a whole to vote on the winning design, we worked with Rocky Mountain Adaptive to select the winning design. Thank you to everyone who voted.
Winning Design
The winning design was from Blue Imp (BDI) and can be found in the document section on the right, along with the results from the survey.
