The Contest
After a long wait, we finally got a new electric ice re-surfacer (you might know this as a "Zamboni", but this one's an Olympia) for our indoor ice arenas at the Canmore Recreation Centre. It's way more energy-efficient and will get our ice looking better than ever with each sweep.
We need a name for our shiny new ride, so we asked you to help us.
In December 2025, we held a community contest asking you to submit your name ideas on MyCanmore, Instagram, and at the Canmore Recreation Centre. We received nearly 100 entries!
Time to Vote!
Our team had fun choosing the top five names from your contest entries. Thanks to everyone who took part and for the awesome creativity!
Now, it's up to YOU to choose your favourite name for our new ice re-surfacer.

What You Could Win
The contestant who submitted the winning name will be contacted directly. If a name that had two entries is selected, each winner will be contacted to participate in an optional tie-breaker.
Besides bragging rights, our lucky winner will get:
1. Their winning name added to the new ice re-surfacer for all to see.
2. A gift basket* from our Recreation Services team, including:
1 water bottle
1 roll of hockey tape
1 hockey puck
2 family day passes to Elevation Place
1 pair of adult-sized Elevation Place socks
*You must be able to pick your prize up in person in Canmore within three weeks of the winner being announced.
